Caribbean Poker Protocols and Hints

Poker has become world famous recently, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. Its popularity, though, arcs back in fact a bit further than its TV ratings. Over the years several variants on the original poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to chemin de fer than old guard poker, in that the players bet against the bank rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is no bluffing or different kinds of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up just before the dealer saying "No more wagers." At that instance, both you and the dealer and of course all of the different gamblers acquire 5 cards each. Once you have observed your hand and the bank’s initial card, you must either make a call wager or bow out. The call wager’s value is equal to your beginning wager, which means that the risks will have doubled. Surrendering means that your bet goes instantly to the casino. After the bet comes the showdown. If the bank doesn’t have ace/king or better, your bet is given back, including a sum on par with the ante. If the dealer has a hand with ace/king or better, you win if your hand beats the dealer’s hand. The dealer pays out chips equal to your wager and controlled odds on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • twenty to one for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
