NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
