NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental comments from other people kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he is learning every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
