No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
