Caribbean Poker Protocols and Tricks

Poker has become world famous recently, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. The games popularity, though, stretches back quite a bit farther than its TV scores. Over the years several variants on the first poker game have been developed, including some games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling twenty-one than traditional poker, in that the players wager against the house rather than each other. The winning hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is little conniving or different kinds of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up before the dealer broadcasting "No further bets." At that instance, both you and the casino and of course every one of the other players acquire 5 cards. After you have looked at your hand and the casino’s initial card, you must either make a call wager or bow out. The call wager’s amount is equal to your beginning wager, meaning that the stakes will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your wager goes instantaneously to the house. After the bet is the face off. If the house does not have ace/king or better, your bet is returned, including a figure equal to the ante. If the dealer does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand defeats the casino’s hand. The dealer pony’s up money even with your wager and set expectations on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for 2 pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
