No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
