No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
