No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
